Mega Millions Odds and Prizes
Mega Millions gives you nine ways to win a prize, based on how many numbers you match. You only need the Mega Ball you pick to be the same as the Mega Ball drawn and you are guaranteed a payout. Prize amounts then increase as you match more numbers.
All the prizes have fixed values, until you get up to the jackpot, which is worth at least $20 million every time. If nobody wins the jackpot, it rolls to the next drawing and an even larger amount is put up for grabs.
Your odds of winning the jackpot are 1 in 302,575,350, making it even less likely than Powerball, but the overall odds are better at 1 in 24. The table below shows all the different prizes and odds for each of the nine levels.
Numbers Matched | Odds of Winning | Prize |
---|---|---|
5 + Mega Ball | 1 in 302,575,350 | Jackpot |
5 | 1 in 12,607,306 | $1 million |
4 + Mega Ball | 1 in 931,001 | $10,000 |

3 + Mega Ball | 1 in 14,547 | $200 |

2 + Mega Ball | 1 in 693 | $10 |

The overall odds of winning a prize are 1 in 24.
