How to Play Take 5
Take 5 is a lottery that's exclusive to New Yorkers, so you'll only find it at retail locations in the Empire State and nowhere else.
It offers regular chances to win, with two drawings every day. There’s a Midday draw at 2:30 PM and an Evening draw at 10:30 PM. It’s really easy to take part. Follow the steps below to buy a ticket, or just ask your retailer for a Quick Pick.
Select your numbers
To play Take 5, you have to choose five numbers from 1 to 39. Mark the numbers you want with blue or black pen or a pencil on your playslip. Alternatively, select the QP box if you are happy with a random Quick Pick. You can choose up to five sets of numbers at a time, with game panels labelled Play A to Play E.
Choose your draws
Decide whether to enter the Midday draw, the Evening draw, or both, and specify how many consecutive days you want to play. You can play up to seven consecutive days.
Pay for your entries
Take your completed playslip to the retailer or insert it into the New York Lottery vending machine that may be available. The cost of Take 5 is $1 per play, and you must buy your tickets by 2:15 PM for the Midday draw, or 10:20 PM for the Evening draw.
You can ‘Play It Again’ with Take 5. Hand in a ticket from within the last 30 days and you will be issued an identical ticket for the next drawing. The cost will be the same as the original play.
How to Win
To win the jackpot, all five of the numbers you pick must be the same as the numbers that are drawn. However, you can also receive a payout for matching two, three or four numbers. A percentage of the prize fund is allocated to each prize level, so the value of payouts varies from draw to draw. Go to the Odds and Prizes page for more information.
